What are Ayurveda Short Courses at SCU’s Academy of Ayurvedic Medicine?

These are focused, non-degree online courses designed to introduce or deepen your understanding of Ayurvedic principles. They are ideal for beginners, wellness professionals, or anyone exploring Ayurveda without committing to a full certification program.

Are these courses part of Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU)?

Yes. The Academy of Ayurvedic Medicine is a specialized division within SCU. It operates with its own academic identity while benefiting from SCU’s reputation as a leader in integrative and whole-person health education.

How are the Ayurveda short courses delivered?

All courses are delivered online through Canvas, SCU’s secure learning platform. You can access lectures, readings, videos, and course materials anytime, from anywhere during the time of enrollment. 

What support is available if I have questions during the course?

You’ll have access to faculty support through Canvas, where you can submit questions via email or discussion boards 24/7. You can also reach out to AyurvedaTechHelp@scuhs.edu with any technical issues. 

How long do I have access to each course?

You will have 180 days (six months) of access from your enrollment date. This allows you to learn at your own pace while still progressing toward a clear completion outcome.

Will I receive a certificate when I finish a course?

Yes! Upon successful completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from The Academy of Ayurvedic Medicine at SCU, recognizing your achievement and knowledge gained.

Do I need experience in Ayurveda to enroll?

No prior Ayurvedic training or prerequisites are required for foundational courses. Advanced topics may recommend previous knowledge, which will be clearly noted in the course description.

Can international students enroll in these Ayurveda Short Courses?

Yes, international students can enroll as the courses are fully online and accessible globally via SCU’s Canvas platform. No visa is required since there’s no on-campus component.

Can these short courses lead to a certification or practitioner-level program?

These short courses do not confer academic credit, but they are an excellent entry point into SCU’s Ayurvedic certificate or degree pathways, such as Lifestyle Coach, Health Counselor, or Practitioner programs.

Do these courses offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs)?

SCU’s Ayurveda Short Courses do not currently offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs). For professionals seeking CEUs, consider exploring SCU’s full Ayurvedic certificate programs.

Are the courses self-paced or scheduled?

All of our courses are fully self-paced. You can start anytime, move through the material on your own schedule, and revisit lessons as often as you’d like. You’ll have 180 days of access to complete the course, giving you plenty of flexibility to learn in the way that works best for you.

What topics are covered in the short courses?

Courses include both foundational and specialized topics such as:

Yes. Each course includes learning checkpoints, quizzes, or assignments designed to reinforce your understanding and ensure you are prepared to receive your completion certificate.

Can I request a refund?

Once access has been provided, refunds are not available. Please review course details before registering or contact us with questions prior to enrollment.

What technology is required?

You will need:

Will I gain practical skills from these courses?

These courses are designed to provide basic understanding of Ayurvedic knowledge and lifestyle practices you can apply for personal wellness care.

What happens when my 180-day access period ends?

Your access to Canvas and course materials will close after 180 days. If you’d like continued access, you may be able to re-enroll depending on availability.

How do I get started or enroll?

Simply select a course on the Academy of Ayurvedic Medicine website, complete the registration form, and receive immediate access via Canvas.
