Founded in 1911, Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) has been advancing the mainstream adoption of complementary approaches—from chiropractic to acupuncture to Ayurveda and beyond—for more than a century.
In 2025, we became the first school in the nation to receive accreditation from the new Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission (AAC), a reflection of our leadership and deep commitment to whole-person healing.

Our programs are designed in alignment with leading national Ayurvedic competency standards and prepare students to meet the evolving needs of holistic healthcare.
Professional Certification
Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Ayurvedic Medical Association Certification Board’s (NAMACB) Ayurvedic Practitioner Certificate (Level II) program. Upon completion of the Ayurvedic Health Counselor and Practitioner programs, SCU students qualify for NAMACB certification meaning the candidate has demonstrated the entry-level competencies for his/her category of practice by completing a NAMA-approved course of study and passing a rigorous certification exam and is engaged in ongoing training as a professional through continuing education and other activities.
